Mr. and Mrs. Frank Whelchel, of Byron recently returned from Greenfield, where they attended the funeral of Mrs. Whelchel's father, Daniel C. Gimason, who died unexpectedly of apoplexy, July 14. He was born in Hamilton, Clinton County in 1840, and was left an orphan at the age of 5. He was married to Mary Jane Cue in 1862. In 1864 he enlisted in Co F 51st Indiana Volunteer Infantry commanded by Col. A. D. Streight, serving a year and being seriously wounded. Mr. Gimason has visited here a number of times and has made many friends who will regret to hear of his death. - typed by kbz
